Lower and upper fire
The two towers each consist of a red steel tube with a white ribbon and a red lantern with a surrounding balcony and pointed dome. The 16 m above sea level. NN high Unterfeuer stands directly on the southern bank of the Lower Weser. 430 m inland and behind the dike is the 27 m high top light . The two beacons were put into operation in April 1983 to replace the old leading lights. They form a leading light line of 119.6 ° and show a synchronous white common mode light with a return of four seconds (Iso.W.4s). The ranges are given as 15 nm.
Old top fire
The first leading lights in Lemwerder were put into operation in 1898 as part of the Weser correction . The 22.5 m high old overhead fire was built at the Bremer Vulkan and was in operation until 1983. In December 1986 the black, triangular iron lattice tower with clad staircase, gallery and lantern was taken over by the municipality of Lemwerder and extensively renovated in 1992. As the “Black Lighthouse” it is one of the sights of Lemwerder today , but it cannot be viewed from the inside. The old Warfleth overhead light is also known as another “Black Lighthouse” .
The 12 m high lower light was 640 meters away and has since been torn down .
