The Directive 2004/22 / EC on measuring instruments , short Measuring Instruments Directive ( Engl. Measuring Instruments Directive , abbreviated MID ) is a European Union directive of 2004. It entered 30 October 2006. The directive was replaced by Directive 2014/32 / EU with effect from April 20, 2016.
content
With the MID directive, older individual directives that were technically obsolete were repealed and replaced by an independent directive in the field of technical harmonization and standardization .
The initial verification by the verification authority or a state-recognized test center, which had been required up until then, was no longer necessary . It was replaced by a conformity assessment by the manufacturer ( CE marking ). In addition, a market surveillance was introduced at the measuring device user.
The scope of the directive extends to
- MI-001 water meter
- MI-002 gas meter and volume corrector
- MI-003 Electricity meter for active consumption
- MI-004 heat meter
- MI-005 measuring systems for the continuous and dynamic measurement of liquids other than water ( flow meters )
- MI-006 Automatic scales
- MI-007 taximeter
- MI-008 measuring standards
- MI-009 Devices for measuring lengths and their combinations
- MI-010 exhaust gas analyzers
On April 20, 2016, the MID Directive was replaced by the European Directive 2014/32 / EU . Essentially, there were procedural changes to market surveillance, but no changes to the scope, the basic requirements and the possible conformity assessment procedures.
Implementation in national law
Germany
The implementation into German law takes place in the Measurement and Verification Act (MessEG) and the Measurement and Verification Ordinance (MessEV) issued on the basis of the MessEG , last reformed with effect from January 1, 2015.
Austria
In Austria, the Measure and Verification Act transposes the directive into national law.
