The guidelines and regulations for the road system ( RVS for short ) are an Austrian set of rules of several thousand pages of the research society road - rail - traffic for the areas of traffic and road systems . A comparable set of rules is being drawn up in Germany by the Research Association for Roads and Transport , which consists of guidelines, additional contractual conditions, recommendations and leaflets.

RVS are the most important tools used by Austrian road builders. In 15 chapters, topics ranging from traffic and road planning to bridges and tunnels to environmental protection and quality assurance are dealt with.
