Rico Schmider (born June 24, 1991 in Offenburg ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Rico Schmider is the son of the former Bundesliga professional Bernd Schmider . He ended his playing career at Offenburg FV in 1987 and settled there. Rico Schmider grew up in the Offenburg district of Zunsweier and played for OFV as a child. At the age of 15 he switched to the promotion of young talent at SC Freiburg . There he played with the B and A youth in the respective junior national league. In 2009 he was a supplementary player when the Freiburg U-19s became South German champions and German junior cup winners. At the beginning of 2010 he moved to the A-youth of Karlsruher SC for half a year .

After completing his youth, the defensive midfielder was looking for a new challenge and joined Preußen Münster in mid-2010 . There he was only a member of the second team in the Westfalenliga, also because of a persistent injury, before he was used three times in the regional league team in the second half of the season. The team became champions and Schmider's contract was extended by one year. In addition, he began studying economics at the University of Münster. At the end of 2011 he made his debut in the 3rd division in the final minutes of the game against SV Sandhausen . At the beginning of the second half of the season he made his debut. He made a total of 17 third division appearances before moving to Kickers Offenbach in the Southwest Regionalliga in summer 2013 . At OFC, however, he was only used for the reserve team playing in the Hessenliga . He then dissolved his contract in Offenbach in July 2014 and returned to his youth club Offenburger FV . In January 2015 Schmider moved from Offenburg to the Westphalian regional division club VfL Senden, and in the summer of 2016 he was signed by the association division club SV Linx . Rico Schmider lives in Offenburg and works full-time as the branch manager of a personnel service provider. With SV Linx, he rose to the top league as a league champion in 2018.
