Wilfried Platzer

Wilfried Platzer (born April 5, 1909 in Sarpsborg , Norway, † November 12, 1981 in Laxenburg ) was an Austrian ambassador .

Life

Wilfried Platzer joined the foreign service in 1933. In 1933 he had joined the Patriotic Front . In 1934 he was employed at the embassy in Berlin. From 1934 to 1938 he was employed in the Foreign Affairs Department at the Federal Chancellery on Ballhausplatz . From 1938 to 1945 he was employed in the Foreign Office of the German Reich. On October 1, 1940, he joined the NSDAP . In 1940 he was promoted to Legation Secretary and in 1942 to Legation Councilor. From 1945 to 1947 he was employed at the office of the Vorarlberg state government. In 1947 he returned to the Austrian foreign service. From 1950 to 1954 he was a delegation counselor in Washington, DC From 1954 to 1958 he headed the economic policy department in the Federal Chancellery / Foreign Affairs. In 1955, Platzer was awarded the Great Cross of Merit with Star of the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1958 to 1965 he was ambassador to Washington, DC From 1965 to 1967 he headed the economic policy department in the Federal Chancellery / Foreign Affairs. From 1967 to 1970 he was Secretary General for Foreign Affairs. From October 14, 1970 to January 10, 1975 he was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s .
