Riddim Ribbon is a music game from Tapulous for the iPhone and iPod touch . Alongside the games from the Tap-Tap Revenge series, it is one of the most popular games in the App Store (as of February 19, 2010). Three songs from the Black Eyed Peas are included; the player can download four more tracks by Tiësto and Benny Benassi using in-app purchases.

Game flow

The game is played using the accelerometer by tilting the device to the left or right.

The level consists of a track, in the middle of which there is a colored band with balls on it. Next to the tape are objects like crosses, which, as soon as the player drives in, reduce the song to its simplest beat rhythm and set the multiplier to 1 ×. The same thing happens if the player drives too long off the track or briefly right on the edge. A tone sounds similar to the tone when a pickup is pulled from a record (scratch). The balls give points. The higher the level (easy, medium, difficult), the more points you get. The number of points on the ball is multiplied by the multiplier (1 × to 4 ×). There are extra points for jumps or ramps.

As soon as a certain number of bullets have been collected, the checkpoint ramp is expanded; as soon as the player drives over it, the control point is passed, the accuracy of the player in this section is displayed as a percentage and the number of balls collected for the new section is set to zero; at the same time the path splits, each of them is a remix. As soon as the section has been completed and the checkpoint has been passed, the two tracks come together again to the original song. In total there are around 10–12 checkpoints per song. There are also effect layers; these can be reached via a different colored junction and a subsequent ramp. The remix is only marginally affected; only sound effects are added, the advantage is a higher score. Occasionally there is also a fence in the way. This can be passed through, but this reduces the beat rhythm and multiplier and creates a current noise.

When the player is in the last section, the goal comes instead of a checkpoint. There are often few points to collect on the home stretch. When the song is over, statistics are displayed.

To unlock the next level of difficulty, the player must have hit at least 80% of the balls (from easy to medium, or 75% from medium to difficult).
