Riedberg quintet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Riedberg Quintet (formerly with " from Vorarlberg " added to the name) is an Austrian music group founded in 1992 in the genre of "Oberkrainermusik" (in the style of Slavko Avsenik and his original Oberkrainer ), as well as in the genre of party music of the 1970s , 1980s , 1990s and of current popular music . The musicians come from Austria (Vorarlberg, Tyrol) and Germany (Allgäu).

Naming

The name "Riedberg Quintett" was created at the end of 1992 when the band members at the time started looking for a suitable band name after their first successful appearances in Vorarlberg (Austria) and the Allgäu (Germany). Due to the fact that the musicians all came from different regions and places and also three members (Joachim Fritz, Frank Fordan, Oliver Speck) had to drive over the Riedberg Pass (Germany) for each meeting with the other band members (Martin Meusburger, Michael Ott) , Joachim Fritz suggested the name "Riedberg Musikanten". This name was then changed shortly afterwards to the name Riedberg Quintett and advertised during the performances.

Band history

In the summer of 1992 Joachim Fritz (Kleinwalsertal) and Frank Fordan (Oberstdorf) met at a tent festival of the "Mittelberger Rompler" in Mittelberg Kleinwalsertal. Up until then, both had been touring as musicians in different groups and line-ups. In the course of a coincidental joint appearance in the beer tent, they got into conversation and expressed their intention to found a new dance music group without any specific goal, regardless of their previous musical experience. A few weeks later Frank Fordan contacted Martin Meusburger from Andelsbuch, who was known to him (also because of a musical performance), as he had also discussed the plan to found a band with Frank Fordan. So in the late summer of 1992 the first meeting between Joachim Fritz, Frank Fordan and Martin Meusburger and the first trip (for this occasion) over the Riedbergpass, which is 1420 m above sea level, took place.

While Martin Meusburger knew a clarinetist from Vorarlberg (Michael Ott), Frank Fordan asked the trumpeter Oliver Speck, who lives in Untermaiselstein / Allgäu, whether she would be interested in founding a quintet in the Oberkrainer style.

After these two musicians also agreed, the first music rehearsals took place in Andelsbuch (Bregenz Forest) in Martin Meusburger's boiler room at the beginning of autumn 1992. The newly founded quintet - at that time still without a name - played on it purely for the joy of making music as a surprise at various birthday parties of friends, neighbors or acquaintances and thus became known in the vicinity of the musicians' places of residence. Finally, in autumn 1992, the first official "game assignment" followed on a mountain alp in the Bregenzerwald.

After this first public appearance, the young music group received more and more requests for games, which is why the musicians had to look for a band name, because the organizers wanted to know what to write on the commercials.

successes

The Riedberg Quintet celebrated its first successes in 1994 and was henceforth engaged in events and major events in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and Hungary. After the production of the first album (musicians greetings from Vorarlberg), the first media and radio appearances came about. In addition to regular radio appearances on ORF, SWR, SRF, RSA, U1, the Riedberg Quintet also appeared in television programs such as B. the great hours of folk music (ORF), the harbor concert (SWF, ORF) and other TV productions of the SWF. Highlights included appearances at the Klostertaler Open Air with 10,000 visitors, appearances with the Hofmann siblings, and open air appearances on the occasion of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf. By 2017 the band had produced 6 albums and made appearances in Western European countries.
