The Riegerpark is a public green area in the East Westphalian district town of Gütersloh . The park near the city center is located in the district of Kattenstroth on the border with the city center and was created at the end of the 1960s on the site of the former Rieger nursery. In 1998, the city completely redesigned the previously neglected site.

The Dalke forms the park boundary.

The redesign coincided with the renaturation of the Dalke , which had been strictly straightened up until then and which forms the north-western park boundary. A “green classroom” was created as a seating area by the water, which is intended to enable students from the neighboring schools to take lessons outdoors. Strictly speaking, the Dalkepromenade ( Paul-Westerfrölke- Weg) is no longer part of the park area, but is connected to the Riegerpark by a bridge. The park is also a station on the Dalke water adventure trail.

In 2002 a children's playground was set up.

The Riegerpark is relatively small compared to the Gütersloh Stadtpark , the park of the LWL-Klinikum and even the Mohns Park . Via the Dalkepromenade, the neighboring Old City Cemetery next to the St. Pankratius Church , which forms the western boundary of the park, and the New City Cemetery, which begins a few meters away, it is integrated into a wide range of green spaces.

In 2013, the city of Gütersloh donated an offshoot of a sequoia tree from the Riegerpark to its central French partner city of Châteauroux for the park there .
