The Fiddich ( Scottish Gaelic Fiodhach or Abhainn Fhiodhaich ) is a river in the Scottish Coucil Area Moray . It rises in a sparsely populated region on the southern slope of Corryhabbie Hill about ten kilometers southwest of Dufftown . From there it flows about 17 km in a northeasterly direction and then describes a wide loop to reach the first town after three kilometers in a westerly direction, Dufftown. From Dufftown the Fiddich flows to the northwest. At Craigellachie it flows into the Spey after a total of 32 km . Shortly before the mouth it spans itA95 . On its run, it overcomes an altitude difference of around 580 m. It takes in numerous small streams. The only notable tributary, however, is the Dullan Water , which flows into Dufftown. The upper reaches of the Fiddich runs through the Glen Fiddich valley , after which the Glenfiddich whiskey distillery is named. However, this does not get the water required for mashing from the Fiddich.
