Riesel is a city in McLennan County in the US state of Texas in the United States . The city got its name from WH Riesel, one of the many Germans who settled in the area and who built an Egrenier machine there around 1880 .

The city is located about 20 km southeast of Waco in the southeast of the county and has a total area of 10.3 km² without any significant water surface.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 973 people lived here in 357 households and 287 families. The population density was 94.6 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 94.76% White, 0.31% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, and 3.08% other ethnic groups. About 0.72% were of mixed race and 6.58% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 357 households, 39.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.4% of them were married couples living together. 10.1% were single mothers and 19.6% were non-families. 17.4% of all households were single households and 9.2% had people who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.10 people.
30.6% of the population were under 18 years old, 4.6% 18 to 24, 31.1% 25 to 44, 18.7% 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 89.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 88.5 men.
