The Rifugio Dondena (French Refuge Dondénaz ) is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2192  m on the Dondénaz dessus site within the commune of Champorcher . The hut is open from mid-June to mid-September and offers sleeping places for 80 mountaineers during this time.

The refuge is located on high path no. 2 in the Aosta Valley .

rise

From Champorcher you drive towards the Mont Avic National Park. At the end of the road, which ends as a gravel road, there is a parking lot.

The entire route from the parking lot at Dondenaz to the refuge is about 15 minutes, without any difficulties. Alternatively, from the Chardonney district, you can follow the high path no. 2 of the Aosta Valley. From there, the pure walking time is 3 hours.

history

The refuge was opened in 1863 and served Viktor Emanuel II as a hunting lodge.
