Holiday in Catatonia is the third studio album by the German punk rock band Jupiter Jones . The German-language album was released in May 2009 on the band's own label Mathildas und Titus' Tonträger .

Emergence

Since bassist Klaus Hoffmann left the band before the recordings, the album mainly features guest musician Martin Hiltawski on bass. Guitarist Sascha Eigner also recorded the bass tracks for some tracks.

The band was also supported by other guest musicians for individual tracks. Actress Jana Pallaske , who was shooting the film Inglourious Basterds with Quentin Tarantino at the time of the recording, can be heard on “Nordpol / Südpol” as the duet partner of singer Müller.

Ingo Knollmann ( Donots ), who is already on either this hideous wallpaper ... or I participated, sings the title “You and Jörg Haider” with Müller.

For the online magazine Mainstage , Christopher Quadt wrote that Jupiter Jones had found their musical basis, and that “punk rock in its purest form” could also be heard on Holiday in Catatonia . However, the focus is primarily on "the stories that singer Nicholas Müller is able to tell with an almost poetic directness."

Kristina Knöbel, who reviewed the album for the music magazine Intro , attested the band "sparkling energy, lifelike lyrics" and singer Nicholas Müller a "voice with [...] absolute [m] recognition value ". But the album is disappointing compared to the first single "The year I slept". Often the lyrics and singing could also come from pure singer Hartmut Engler , some of the ballads were "badly towards kitsch [slipped]".

Holiday in Catatonia was the first release by Jupiter Jones, which could place in the German album charts .
