The Rifugio Grand Tournalin is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Valais Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2535  m in the Val d'Ayas side valley in the Tournalin dessus district (also known as Tournalèn damon in the local dialect ) within the municipality of Ayas . The hut is managed from mid-June to mid-September and offers sleeping places for 37 mountaineers during this time.

The hut is located in the high valley Vallone di Nana near the eponymous mountain Grand Tournalin and is climbed as part of the Alta via della Val d'Aosta n.1 high- altitude hiking trail .

Ascent

The ascent to the hut begins in the district of Saint-Jacques ( 1689  m )

The entire route from the car park at Saint-Jacques to the Rifugio Grand Tournalin, which is not difficult, takes around 2½ hours.

history

The refuge was inaugurated for the first time in 1994.
