The Rifugio Pordenone is a refuge of the Pordenone section of the Club Alpino Italiano . It is located at an altitude of 1249 m near the confluence of the Val Montanaia in the Val Meluzzo on a wooded step south of the Cima Meluzzo (2188 m) in the Friulian Dolomites .

history

Work on the construction of the old refuge began in 1929 and was inaugurated on May 25, 1930. However, the increasing number of visitors made the small log hut inadequate, so the Pordenone section of the Club Alpino Italiano decided to build a new one made of masonry, which was inaugurated on October 8, 1961. The last expansion took place in 1971 and 1972.

Features and information

The building consists of masonry and wood on two floors and has a total of 20 rooms. It is open from June 15th to September 30th.

Access

From Cimolais (651 m) a road goes up the Val Cimoliana of the same name , always along the Cimoliana. After 13 km you will reach the car park at Pian Meluzzo at the crossroads with Val Meluzzo. Up to the left, the footpath leads in ten minutes to the hut in a few bends.
