Rikke Hvilshøj

Rikke Hvilshøj (born May 5, 1970 in Århus ) is a Danish politician of the liberal-conservative party Venstre . From February 2005 to November 2007 she was the Minister for Refugees, Immigration and Integration in her country.

Life

From 1992 to 1994, Hvilshøj headed the youth organization Venstres Ungdom in the Copenhagen area, and from 1990 she was already working in this role in Frederiksberg . From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the local parliament of Frederiksberg, and from 1998 to 2001 she was the municipality's deputy mayor. She graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a degree in Political Science in 1997 . In March 1998 she moved into the Danish parliament, the Folketing , for the first time . There she remained a member until August 2008. Between 1998 and 2005 she was part of her party's parliamentary group. From 2003 to 2004 she was the chairman of the acquisition committee.

On February 18, 2005, she was appointed Minister for Refugees, Immigration and Integration in the Anders Fogh Rasmussen II government. Shortly afterwards, on June 8, 2005, there was an arson attack on her home, where she was staying with her children and her husband. The attack could not be solved. After the arson attack, it was continuously guarded by the Danish domestic intelligence service Politiets sikkerhetstjeneste (PST). In November 2007, she announced that she was leaving politics for personal reasons. She finally resigned on November 23, 2007.

In August 2008 she also left the Folketing and became market director at Dansk Erhverv , a Danish employers' organization. A year later, she took on the same position at Konica Minolta . In 2012 she joined the think tank CEPOS where it was political boss. In 2015 she became the administrative manager of the IT interest organization Dansk IT . In 2019 she became a member of the Danish government's data ethics council.
