Cattle (norse mythology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rind ( Old Norse. Rindr), according to Saxo Grammaticus Rinda, is an Aesi goddess in Norse mythology with whom Odin begat Wali against her will , who later avenged Balder by killing Hödur .

A Finnish fortune teller prophesies that only Odin and the king's daughter Rind together can bring forth the avenger for Balder's death. Odin breaks his refusal by forcibly fathering the avenger Wali (called "Bous" by Saxo Grammaticus) through disguise, magic and deception.
