The Rinderbacher Tor was the northernmost entrance through the fortifications of Ober-Ingelheim . This gate led to Nieder-Ingelheim .

location

The Rinderbacher Tor once stood at the northern end of Rinderbachstrasse towards Nieder-Ingelheim. To the east is the still well-preserved section of the wall on the path of sighs . Downhill to the west you come to the pointed cone tower on Bahnhofstrasse.

architecture

The previous building was equipped with two gate towers and a Gothic archway on which a gable roof was enthroned. The subsequent building was a simple house with a gable roof and angular gate opening. Only the eastern part with the tower has survived from the subsequent building.

history

The previous gate was built with the construction of the fortifications in the 15th century, which today is only reminiscent of a base of the western gate tower. In the 19th century, this was demolished due to dilapidation and replaced by a residential building. In 1970 the western wing of the successor building with the gate passage was also demolished.
