Rinus van Schendelen

Rinus van Schendelen (full name Marinus Petrus Christophorus Maria van Schendelen , * 1944 ) is a Dutch political scientist .

Life

Van Schedelen was born in 1944. He received his doctorate in 1975 in Rotterdam and has been Professor of Political Science at the Erasmus University Rotterdam since 1980 . He is the author or co-author of over 200 articles in national and international journals and of over 30 monographs . His research focuses on the European Union , the relationship between business and politics , lobbying , public affairs , parliamentary studies, Dutch politics and the relationship between the population and the elite .

His main work is his book "The Art of EU Lobbying", in which he analyzes the representation of European interests between politics, administration and lobbying in the multi-level system of the European Union. In Germany he complained that the European coordination of the federal government had not adjusted sufficiently to the phenomenon of lobbying.

In 2002 Van Schendelen mediated the establishment of the college van burgemeester en wethouders in the municipality of Rotterdam after the first municipal council elections .
