The tower hill Kratzeburg , also called tower hill Schlossberg , is a tower hill castle (Motte) in Kratzeburg in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Today only the earth relic remains of the castle complex.
description
The moth enclosure was typical of a local knight's low-aristocratic castle . It was on a country road that crossed the Havel .
The castle foundation made of field stones with the wooden tower structure stood on an artificially created hill, which was surrounded by a ditch about 8 meters wide. The hill is still 3.5 meters high today.
The facility was built and used in the 13th and 14th centuries.
According to a legend, an underground corridor is said to connect the tower hill castle in Kratzeburg with the Ankershagen castle of the robber baron Henning von Holstein.
