The Rio Aquidauana is a river in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul .

It is also known under the names Mateteú , Mboteteú and Embeteteú , Mondego and Guachiu .

The Aquidauana rises in the Serra de Maracaju and has a total length of around 1,200 kilometers. It belongs to the river system of the Río Paraguay and is a tributary of the Rio Miranda , which flows through the plain of the Pantanal .

As a navigable river, it has an important function for connecting the farms around the city of Aquidauana in the rainy season, when the streets of the Pantanal are often impassable.

The Rio Aquidauana gave the city of Aquidauana , past which it flows, its name.
