Risøyhamn is part of the Andøy municipality in Norway .

The place has about 211 inhabitants in the province ( Fylke ) Nordland in the region of Vesterålen in Northern Norway. Risøyhamn is the landing stage for the Hurtigruten . The place is an important transport hub in Vesterålen. The inhabitants live mainly from fishing .

The so-called Risøyrenna , an artificially recessed shipping lane with a length of 4.5 km , leads to Risøyhamn harbor . In 1922 this canal was inaugurated in the presence of the king . This Risøy channel was a decisive step forward for the ship connection of the archipelago. B. Stokmarknes could be reached better. The ships of the Hurtigrute still use this connection every day.
