The River Caldew is a river in the Lake District , Cumbria , England .

The Caldew arises east of the Skiddaw and west of the Sale How and initially flows in an easterly direction through a valley. At the end of the valley at Mosedale , it turns north and flows in this direction to its confluence with the River Eden in Carlisle west of Carlisle Castle .
