The River Ember is a tributary of the River Mole in Surrey , England . It separates from the main river at the southeast corner of Island Barn Reservoir and flows to the east of the reservoir while the main river flows to the west and north. It joins the River Mole south of Hampton Court Station in Moseley , which flows into the Thames shortly afterwards .
Historically, the River Mole flowed further upstream into the Thames and the River Ember had its own mouth in the area where it is today, but in the 1930s the mouth was merged when the Hampton Court Bridge was built.
