The River Oich is a river in the Scottish Highlands. It is located in the Great Glen in the Highland Council Area .
The source of the River Oich is Loch Oich . The river leaves the lake at Aberchalder and flows from there along the Great Glen to the northeast. At Fort Augustus , the river flows into Loch Ness after only about seven kilometers . The River Oich is a fishing area where salmon and trout can be caught. The area is a popular hiking area. The Caledonian Canal runs parallel to the river in the Great Glen , which also connects Loch Oich and Loch Ness on this section - but unlike the River Oich, it is navigable.
