The River Wantsum is a watercourse in Kent , England . It arises east of Reculver and flows first in an easterly direction and then in a south direction. It flows into the River Stour south of Sarre .

In Roman times and in the Middle Ages, the River Wantsum was a canal almost 2.5 km wide and navigable by seagoing vessels. He linked Reculver with Richborough .
