Rivière Batiscan is a river in the Canadian province of Québec .
The 196 km long river flows from Lac Édouard in the Mauricie region in a southerly direction to the St. Lawrence River and flows into it at Batiscan - 30 km east of Trois-Rivières and 80 km west of the provincial capital Québec .
Hydropower
Centrale de Saint-Narcisse is the only hydroelectric power station on the Rivière Batiscan. It was completed in 1926 and is operated by Hydro-Québec . Two turbines together generate 15 MW. The hydraulic potential is 44.81 m.

The Rivière Batiscan has its origin at an altitude of 363 meters in the Laurentine Mountains . It rises from Lac Édouard . This has another outflow, the Rivière Jeannotte , which joins the Rivière Batiscan after 48 km. The Rivière Batiscan flows south to the Saint Lawrence River.
Hydrology
The catchment area covers 4688 km². At the Centrale de Saint-Narcisse hydropower plant , the mean discharge is 96 m³ / s. The outflow varies greatly. In May it reached its maximum with 937 m³ / s, in September it was only 7.9 m³ / s. For the last 18 km of the river, the tides of the estuary of the Saint Lawrence River are noticeable. At the mouth, the tidal range is 1.5 m.
