The Rivière Saint-Jean is a tributary of the Saguenay Fjord in the administrative region Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean in the eastern part of the Canadian province of Québec .

The Rivière Saint-Jean forms the outflow of Lac Brébeuf . He leaves it at its east end. The Rivière Cami flows into the river shortly afterwards on the right. The Rivière Saint-Jean flows mainly in a north-easterly direction to L'Anse-Saint-Jean , where it flows into the Anse Saint-Jean bay on the south bank of the Saguenay Fjord . The Rivière Saint-Jean has a length of 50 km. It drains an area of ​​756 km². The mean discharge of the Rivière Saint-Jean is 15 m³ / s.

Covered bridges

The Pont du Faubourg covered bridge spans the river in the commune of L'Anse-Saint-Jean.

Hydropower plants

About 12 km above the estuary there is a run-of-river power station on the Rivière Saint-Jean ( ) operated by Hydro-Morin . It has an installed capacity of 450 kW.
