biography

Due to his innovative style, which can best be described as a mix of dance , house and classical music , Dougan caused a sensation with his song Clubbed to Death for the The Matrix soundtrack in 1999. The piece is based on a theme from the orchestral work Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar and was alienated by Dougan in the style of the Big Beat . Dougan played the piece since the mid-1990s; When director Yolande Zauberman heard it before the shooting of her 1997 film Clubbed to Death , she was so impressed that she used it as the theme song and named the film after it.

Rob Dougan attended drama school in Australia, but was not happy in the long run. After he moved to London to devote himself to music, he initially kept himself afloat with a job as a jeans salesman, thereby financing his hobby: mixing songs. But very quickly he became one of the most popular remixers in London and mixed songs for stars like Moby or the band U2 . Rob Dougan also works as a songwriter and producer and has worked with stars such as Kylie Minogue and the Sugababes , among others . For the latter he produced their single Too Lost In You together with Andy Bradfield.
