Rob Fisher (keyboardist)

Robert "Rob" Fisher (born November 5, 1956 or 1959 in Cheltenham ; † August 25, 1999 ) was a British pop musician, keyboardist and songwriter from Bath , who achieved chart success as a member of the bands Naked Eyes and later Climie Fisher .

Life

Fisher attended Lord Wandsworth College in Hampshire , where he was a member of the band Circus . Rob Fisher and his friend Pete Byrne founded the new wave duo Naked Eyes as a singer from 1982 and became one of the key figures of early synth pop . The two greatest successes of Naked Eyes were the interpretations of the Burt Bacharach title (There's) Always Something There to Remind Me and the self-written title Promises, Promises , which could place high in the US charts. In Europe, however, Naked Eyes never achieved a breakthrough. After the second album was less successful, the duo broke up in 1984.

In the fall of 1987, Fisher reappeared as one half of the pop duo Climie Fisher, along with singer and songwriter Simon Climie . Together they reached number two with Love Changes (Everything) and number 10 with Rise to the Occasion in the UK rankings. While Climie continued to be successful as a producer after the duo's split, Rob Fisher seemed to disappear from the scene. Shortly before his death, he planned to reunite Naked Eyes with Byrne, but he died on August 25, 1999 after a long illness of complications from colon cancer .
