Robert Dobkin
Robert C. Dobkin (* 1944 in Philadelphia ) is a developer in the field of analog integrated circuits (IC).
Life
Dobkin studied at MIT without graduating from there. He then went to GTE Defense Systems, among others. From there he moved to National Semiconductor in January 1969 and stayed until July 1981. In the same year, he founded Linear Technology with Robert Swanson and Robert Widlar , and was a member of its board and development department until the takeover by Analog Devices in 2016 .
Important developments go back to Dobkin such as
- the first adjustable linear voltage regulator LM317 ,
- the voltage reference LM199 based on an integrated Zener diode ,
- a long-term stable Zener voltage reference, the LTZ1000 (A),
- the first low-drop-out regulator LT1083,
- the LM118 operational amplifier with increased bandwidth and voltage slew rate .
