The Linear Technology Corporation was a 1981 by Robert Swanson , Bob Widlar and Robert Dobkin , was established in semiconductors - and software manufacturers . The company produced mainly integrated circuits (ICs) for use in telecommunications equipment , the air and space travel as well as for the automotive industry . In addition, Linear Technology developed the circuit simulation software LTspice and the energy management system for the Toyota Prius .

The shares were traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol LLTC .

On July 26, 2016, it was announced that Analog Devices had acquired the company for $ 14.8 billion . The takeover was finalized on March 10, 2017.
