Robert Garapon
Robert Garapon ( 1921 - May 23, 1992 ) was a French Romance studies and literary scholar.
life and work
Garapon completed his habilitation in Paris in 1955 with La fantaisie verbale et le comique dans le théâtre français du Moyen Age à la fin du XVIIe siècle (Paris 1957) and (ed.) Pierre Corneille, L'Illusion comique (Paris 1957, 1985). He taught from 1950 to 1965 at the University of Caen and from 1965 at the Sorbonne . From 1965 to 1989 he was General Secretary of the Association Internationale des Etudes Françaises (AIEF), and from 1989 its President.
