Robert Lane Gibbs (born March 29, 1971 in Auburn , Alabama ) was from January 20, 2009 to February 11, 2011 the press secretary of the White House under the presidency of Barack Obama . His predecessor was Dana Perino .

At the beginning of 2011 he left his post. Jay Carney is his successor .

In 2015 Gibbs became head of communications at McDonald’s .
