Robert Hallum or Hallam (* around 1360/70 in Oxford ; † September 4, 1417 in Gottlieben ) was Bishop of Salisbury from 1407 to 1417 .

Life

Robert Hallum studied at Oxford University , was in the service of the Archbishops of Canterbury from 1381 and was Chancellor of Oxford University from 1403 to 1405.

In 1406 he was appointed Archbishop of York , which King Henry IV did not accept. 1407 he was by Pope Gregory XII. appointed Bishop of Salisbury. On June 6, 1411 he was by John XXIII. created a pseudocardinal , which Hallum did not accept.

At the Council of Pisa in 1409 he represented the English Church. At the Council of Constance he was the chief ambassador of the English legation. For Henry V he represented a course in church reform. He died unexpectedly during the council and was buried at his request in the Konstanz Minster , where a relief plaque in front of the steps to the high choir commemorates him.
