Robert Hughes (swimmer)

Robert "Bob" Earl Hughes (born December 15, 1930 in Lennox , California , † October 11, 2012 ) was an American water polo player and swimmer .

Hughes was a two-time Olympian in 1952 and 1956. At the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki he took part in the water polo tournament and reached fourth place with the US national team. He was used in all nine games. Four years later at the Summer Games in Melbourne he reached 5th place with the US team and played five games during the tournament. In addition, he competed in the 200-meter breaststroke competition, but was eliminated in the preliminary run.
