Robert I of the Mark
Robert I. von der Mark (French: Robert I. de La Marck ; † 1489 ) was governor of the Duchy of Bouillon and Seigneur of Sedan from 1483 to 1489 .
Life
Robert was born the son of Jeans de La Marck. He followed his father after his death in 1480 as Seigneur von Sedan. In 1483 his older brother Wilhelm resigned from the office of governor in the Duchy of Bouillon in his favor.
Through his marriage to Jeanne de Marley, heir to Colarts de Marley, Seigneur of Floranges, Jamets and Saulcis, in 1449 he came into the possession of these three lords . Among other things, the sons arose from the marriage
- Robert II († 1536), governor of the Duchy of Bouillon, Seigneur of Sedan and Floranges, ⚭ 1491 Catherine de Croÿ
- Erard (1472–1538), cardinal and prince-bishop of Liège
Robert I was employed in the French army and was killed during the siege of Yvois in 1489. He was buried in the abbey church of Mouzon .
