Count Wilhelm I von der Mark ( Dutch Willem van der Marck , French Guillaume de La Marck ), also called the boar of the Ardennes , (* around 1446, † 1483 in Maastricht ) was a Dutch nobleman .

Count Wilhelm I von der Mark was a Dutch nobleman of raw, passionate disposition. He became regent of Liège , but abused this office for injustices and acts of violence and was banned from the estates .

With French help, he thirsty for vengeance against Liège in 1482, defeated the army of the burghers and killed Bishop Louis de Bourbon with a battle ax . He then moved into Liège, had his son elected bishop, seized the secular office of ruler and took the lead in the outrage against Maximilian I. From Louis XI. , who made peace with Maximilian on December 23, 1482, was abandoned, he was brought to submission and beheaded in Maastricht in 1483.
