history
Mouzon was a river port as early as Celtic times. In the Middle Ages, Mouzon was a fiefdom as a fortress on the Meuse, which also extended to Sedan , which is much more important today . Buildings from the 13th and 15th centuries have survived from this period, including a Benedictine monastery (today a retirement home) and - only in the department - a Gothic abbey church, which houses an organ by Christophe Moucherel from 1725.
Further historical data:

- The city and the fortress of Mouzon were besieged by the French king's troops in 1652, during the Fronde . It only surrendered on October 1, 1653.
On August 12, 1920, the municipality was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 .
