Robert Jaulin

Robert Jaulin (born March 7, 1928 in Le Cannet , Alpes-Maritimes department , † November 21, 1996 in Grosrouvre , Yvelines department ) was a French anthropologist and ethnologist .

Live and act

Between 1954 and 1959 Jaulin undertook some research trips to Chad , where he studied the Sara people.

Via Michel Leiris , Jaulin made the acquaintance of the journalist Robert Barrat and - like him - also rejected colonialism . The French doctrine and the beginning of the Algerian War led Jaulin to sign the 121 manifesto in September 1960 .

Robert Jaulin died on November 21, 1996 in Grosrouvre, where he found his final resting place.
