Robert Koeck

Robert Köck (born July 19, 1924 in Fulda ; † January 1, 2016 in Mainz ) was a German artist and art educator. Until 1968 he was a Benedictine monk of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Mauritius (Tholey) under the name of Pater Bonifatius Köck .

life and work

Robert Köck completed training at the Landeskunstschule Mainz from 1954 to 1956, which was founded in 1945 and connected to the State Building School. In 1956 he did an internship at Derix Glasstudios in Wiesbaden . Köck left the Benedictine Abbey of Tholey in 1968, married and worked as a freelance artist as well as an art teacher and Catholic religion teacher at the Episcopal Willigis High School in Mainz. On August 1, 1969, he entered the school service of the diocese of Mainz , from which he left on September 30, 1987. Robert Köck was married to Anita Köck (née Malotki von Trzebiatowski ) and had a son and a daughter.
