Robert Kaufman (screenwriter)

Robert Kaufman (born March 22, 1931 ; died November 21, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer.

Life

Kaufman appeared from 1960 as a screenwriter for television series. He had previously studied at Columbia University from 1948 to 1951 and was a. a. worked as a press officer ( publicist ). At the Primetime Emmy Awards in 1962 , he was nominated along with several colleagues from the series The Bob Newhart Show . In the 1970s his focus was on movies. In the 1970s and 1980s he also worked occasionally as a producer.

In addition to many comedies, including a number of series, his work also includes action and crime films. At the 1968 Academy Awards , Kaufman and Norman Lear were nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay for divorce in American . Working on love at first bite earned him a 1980 Saturn Award nomination for best screenplay .

Kaufmann died of complications from a heart attack . He was married several times and the father of four children from his first marriage.
