Robert Kopp

Robert Kopp (born August 2, 1939 in Basel ) is a Swiss Romanist . He is emeritus professor for modern French literature at the University of Basel , where he was Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History from 1983 to 1985 . Among other things, he taught at the University of Paris IV (Sorbonne) from 1985 to 1986 .

Robert Kopp has published numerous historical-critical editions by Honoré de Balzac , Charles Baudelaire , the Goncourt brothers and Huysmans .

He is a member of the French Legion of Honor and received the “Grand Prix du rayonnement de la langue française” from the Académie française . The University of Basel awarded him the Amerbach Prize. In 2007 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Université de Haute-Alsace .
