Robert L. Wolfe

Robert L. Wolfe (born July 5, 1928 , † February 28, 1981 ) was an American film editor .

Life

Wolfe began his work in the film business in the late 1950s in the wardrobe area. From 1960 to 1970 he worked as an independent editor for several television series, in the years that followed he was exclusively involved in film productions. During this time he worked closely with director Sam Peckinpah on several films .

He was nominated for an Oscar for best editing for the first time for the film Die Unbrechlichen (1976) . He also received nominations for the BAFTA Film Award and the Eddie Award for the film . A second Oscar nomination for The Rose followed in 1980 . Wolfe died in February 1981 at the age of only 52, shortly after filming for Am golden See (1981) was finished. He was posthumously awarded a third Oscar nomination for Am golden See , and the film was dedicated to him in the credits.
