The son of Togolese parents was born in northern France and grew up there. He began his professional career in 1991 with RC Lens . With this club he stayed until 1994. After that he continued to play in lower French leagues, changing clubs almost every year. His stations were Fécamp (1994-96), Saint-Brieuc (1996/97), FC Lorient (1997/98), Toulouse FC (1998/99), ASOA Valence (1999/2000), FC Gueugnon (2000/01) and ES Wasquehal (2001/02). After his active career, Malm was a member of the coaching staff at Olympique Nîmes and AS Cherbourg .
