Robert Markham

Sir Robert Markham of East Markham (1435 † 1495) was an English knight .

Life

He was a son of Robert Markham and Elizabeth Burdon.

He was a devoted supporter of the House of York and fought at the Battle of Towton during the Wars of the Roses (1461). Markham was during the coronation in 1461 by Edward IV. To Knight of the Bath beaten.

Sir Robert served as sheriff in Lincolnshire in 1475 and in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in 1479. In June 1481, at the behest of Francis Lovell, 1st Viscount Lovell , he commanded a force to take East Bridgeford for Lord Lovell.

Marriage and offspring

Sir Robert Markham was married to Joan, daughter of Sir Giles Daubeney.
