Robert Mermoud

Robert Mermoud (born October 13, 1912 in Eclagnens ; † February 2, 2005 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss musician and composer, and an honorary citizen of Eclagnens.

He is the son of a farmer and first became a teacher. In addition to his job, he then studied theory, singing and conducting as well as composition. In 1946 he came to the Basel Conservatory , in 1947 he received his diploma as a conductor. From 1948 to 1965 he was a teacher at the Collège de Montreux and founder of the Le Petit Chœur Du Collège De Montreux . As a choirmaster he worked with Ernest Ansermet and Carl Schuricht . With the Théâtre du Jorat choir, which he founded , he gave over 250 performances.

He arranged the Ticino song Quel Mazzolin Di Fiori for male choir for the 1973 Swiss Song Festival in Zurich .

He was married to the musician Suzanne Moret since 1934.
