Robert Morris Yardley (born October 9, 1850 in Yardley , Bucks County , Pennsylvania , †  December 8, 1902 in Doylestown , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1887 and 1891 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Yardley attended both public and private schools. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1872, he began to work in Doylestown in this profession. Between 1880 and 1884 he was a district attorney in Bucks County. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In June 1884 he took part as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago .

In the 1886 congressional elections , Yardley was elected to the 7th constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Isaac Newton Evans on March 4, 1887 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1891 . From 1889 he was chairman of the Committee for Control of Expenditures of the Ministry of War. In 1890 he renounced another candidacy.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Robert Yardley practiced law again. He also became a member of the Doylestown City School Committee. He has also been a director of various financial and public service bodies. He died on December 8, 1902 in Doylestown, where he was also buried.
