Robert Naquet

Robert Naquet (born April 26, 1923 in Avignon , † December 7, 2005 ) was a French physician and clinical neurophysiologist.

Life

After studying medicine with a doctorate in 1953, Naquet worked at the French National Scientific Research Center (CNRS) from 1955, from 1972 to 1991 as head of the physiological laboratory. He was u. a. Secretary and later President of the International Federation of EEG Societies and Societies for Clinical Neurophysiology. Since 1990 he has been a corresponding member of the Académie des sciences .

Naquet was (co-) author of numerous articles in specialist journals as well as book chapters. Among other things, he was the first to describe photosensitivity in the monkey Papio papio. In addition, he was busy u. a. with the effect of video games in epilepsy.

He was also the co-editor of 2 books.

Awards

Naquet has received numerous awards, including a .:

  • 1987: Honorary membership of the German section of the International League Against Epilepsy (since 2004: German Society for Epileptology ),
  • 1990: Epilepsy Research Award for outstanding contributions to the pharmacology of anti-epileptic drugs from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET),
  • 1995: "Ambassador for Epilepsy" by the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) and the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE),
  • 1995: (Herbert Henri) Jasper Award from the US Society for Clinical Neurophysiology.
