Robert Payer

Robert Payer (born April 25, 1933 in Agendorf near Sopron ) is a German musician of popular hits . He is the founder and was director of the Original Burgenland Orchestra, a wind orchestra from Schwäbisch Gmünd , for 50 years . Robert Payer has been married to Maria since 1958 and has a son (Robert) and a daughter (Ingrid).

Life

Robert Payer grew up in Agendorf / Hungary. As a child he played the tenor horn in the local wind orchestra . He spent his military service as a trombonist in a Hungarian military band in Sopron and continued his musical education. After the Hungarian uprising , the family moved to Germany in 1956. At Fritz Heckler in Heidelberg he completed his musician diploma and then worked as a technical employee. In his new hometown Schwäbisch Gmünd he founded a wind orchestra in 1960, the members of which mostly come from Burgenland, like him. Therefore he named the orchestra Original Burgenlandkapelle . In 1971 concerts took place in the USA . Appearances in popular radio and television broadcasts as well as several sound carrier productions followed.

Payer and his band took part in the 1991 Grand Prix of Folk Music . Her title Grüß Gott her friends reached 6th place in the German preliminary decision. Today the wind orchestra is one of the more successful bands of popular hits. To this day, they are often guests on popular television programs.
