Robert Schiffer
Robert Schiffer (born December 14, 1922 ): Former German football player who was active in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football, in 1952/53 for BSG Motor / Wismut Gera .
Athletic career
After Robert Schiffer had previously played football with the lower-class company sports associations (BSG) Chemie Bad Köstritz and Stahl Silbitz , the 29-year-old joined the upper division Wismut Gera for the 1952/53 season. Coach Oskar Büchner used Schiffer for the first time in the third league game of Gera and let him play as a half right striker. Only seven game days later Schiffer came to his next league assignment, now as a right defender. He then played all other point games until the end of the season with one interruption, with the last nine matches as a left defender. After the end of the season, the Geraer BSG, which had since been renamed the BSG Wismut Gera, had to relegate from the league after three seasons. For the 1953/54 season in the second-rate GDR league , Robert Schiffer was still part of the Wismut Gera squad. Under the new coach Manfred Fuchs , Schiffer kept his position on the left defensive side. After he had played all thirteen league games in the first half of the season and scored a goal, he then no longer appeared in the squad of BSG Wismut. Since he later no longer appeared in the higher-class game operation, it remained with his balance of 22 goalless league games and 13 games in the GDR league with one goal.
